Privacy Policy

What we collect

If you create an account, we keep your name, email address, and password, stored securely and encrypted. If you join the newsletter, we keep your email, the first name you optionally share, and where you signed up from. If you save or like stories, we keep those lists so your library works. If you share a parent story, we keep the note, the display name you chose, and an optional location. If you write to us through the contact page, we keep your name, email, and message so we can answer.

How we use it

Your email gets the newsletter only if you asked for it. Your account data exists so you can sign in. Approved parent stories are published under the display name you chose. Contact messages are used for one thing: replying to you. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data for marketing, and there are no ad networks or analytics trackers on this site.

Cookies

We use a few simple session cookies so you can stay signed in and forms can stay secure. That's it. No advertising cookies and no tracking cookies from us.

YouTube videos

Stories play through YouTube's privacy-enhanced player (youtube-nocookie.com). YouTube sets no cookies until you press play. After that, the player runs under Google's privacy policy.

View counts

We count how many times a story is opened as an anonymous total. Those numbers are never connected to you.

Your rights & deleting your data

You can delete your account at any time from Account Settings. Your account, saved stories, and liked stories are permanently deleted. Parent notes you shared stay published under the display name you chose but are no longer connected to you. If you'd like those removed too, email us and we'll take care of it. To unsubscribe from the newsletter or request any data deletion, write to hello@miaandstories.com.

Where it lives

Your data is stored on servers within the EU. Account data stays while your account is active, subscriber data until you unsubscribe, and contact messages until we've replied and tidied everything away.

Children

This site is written for parents, and we do not knowingly collect data from children. Protecting a real child's privacy is the reason Mia is drawn instead of photographed. It's the promise this whole project is built on.
